Tracy Chevalier’s New Boy transports the drama and deception of Othello to a 1970s schoolyard. When diplomat’s son Osei arrives he immediately befriends the popular Dee. But one student can’t stand to witness their budding relationship and over one tragic day, sets out to destroy it…

Kamila Shamsie’s Home Fire is a contemporary retelling of Sophocles’ Antigone. Isma is caught between her headstrong sister and her Jihadist brother, when she meets Eamonn. The son of a powerful politician, he seems like a chance for love, and even for her family’s salvation…but Eamonn has his own birthright to live up to – or defy.

Tracy Chevalier has written nine novels, including Girl with a Pearl Earring, which sold over 5 million copies. Kamila Shamsie is the author of six books and was one of was one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists in 2013.
