Durham's heritage is celebrated each year in September, during the Heritage Open Days, when the doors to many of the City's fascinating builings and historical sites are specially opened to the public. Over the 4 days 28 of Durham's hidden treasures are unlocking their doors to reveal their secrets as part of this year's Heritage Open Days. The City of Durham Council is inviting people to take part in this fantastic free event and to explore the city by visiting listed buildings, historic parks and gardens, places of worship, archaeological sites and modern architecture.
