Exploring Fairy Tales with Jen Campbell and Sara Maitland

Palace Green Library

14.10.17

1pm–2pm

To mark the opening of Palace Green Library’s exhibition, Between Worlds: Folklore and Fairy Tales from Northern Britain, we bring together writers Jen Campbell and Sara Maitland to talk about the power of fairy tales.

Jen Campbell’s new book The Beginning of the World in the Middle of the Night is a collection of twelve haunting stories; modern fairy tales brimming with magic, outsiders and lost souls.

In Gossip from the Forest Sara Maitland suggests that fairy tales are one of our earliest and most vital cultural forms, and forests one of our most ancient landscapes.

Chaired by Dr Jamie Tehrani, Durham University
