Did you hear? If you follow us on social media, you’ll have seen that we’ve recently announced the relaunch of one of our most-popular events across Durham City.
Usually taking place on the third weekend of every month, historically Dine InDurham has seen participating BID Businesses offer set price menus of £5, £10 or £15, in a scheme that is reminiscent of other ‘Restaurant Weeks’ in towns and cities across the country.
Now, in a special extended edition of Dine InDurham taking place between Thursday 18th and 26th October, participating businesses in the eight-day extravaganza will be able to create their own custom offers away from the set price menu model for you, your family and friends to enjoy.
What’s more, with the revamped event, eateries will be able to include an alcoholic tipple or two for the first time ever, as part of their Dine InDurham offer, so you can really make a day or night of it in Durham (but please do remember to drink responsibly!).
So why the change? Well, when we first launched Dine InDurham, we were really keen for the event to have the feel of a typical Restaurant Week, but rather it only happening once a year, we wanted it to be on more of a regular basis, so more people visiting the City could enjoy the experience while benefiting the participating businesses by increased footfall, covers and ultimately takings in the till.
For two years, this model has worked really well for all involved, with lots of BID Businesses saying what a boost Dine InDurham gives them each month, thanks to the added reservations with visitors taking advantage of the special offers. For that, we have you to thank, for coming into Durham and enjoying all that the beautiful City has to offer.
However, we’ve learned through time that the set price menu model doesn’t work for all BID businesses, and so we’ve decided to remove this requirement, making the event more accessible for even more businesses across Durham City to get involved with, in turn widening the offer and hopefully attracting some new clientele into these businesses too.
So now, thanks to the Dine InDurham re-launch, even more restaurants, cafes, bars and other eateries are taking part in this month’s event than ever before, with over 35 businesses taking part in the initiative, each with different offers for you to enjoy.
After all, Durham City has a great café culture, but it also has a great food offering too. From quirky independents to national chains, good old British pub grub, to tapas and Turkish dishes, there’s something to suit every taste and every eating-out-budget at Dine InDurham. We really hope you’re as excited by this change in format to Dine InDurham as we are, and are looking forward to welcoming you, your family and friends to the City to enjoy a bite to eat too.
If you’d like to take advantage of the different Dine InDurham offers , please do to visit our website, browse the offers from participating businesses, and take note of their valid to and from dates along with any others terms and conditions. Then, you can either download and print the dedicated voucher, and bring it along to your dining experience to enjoy the discounts and other special deals on offer, or have your voucher ready to show your server on your smartphone or mobile device.
Lastly, don’t forget that some offers are subject to availability or advanced booking may be required (and this is recommended where possible to avoid disappointment) – we’d hate for you to miss out on a tasty treat and have to wait until Dine InDurham rolls around in November!
