Loyalty card puts businesses in the shop window

Durham Business Improvement District Company (BID) has launched a new loyalty card scheme for levy-paying businesses and their staff.

Holders of a free InDurham Loyalty Card will have access to a range of discounts and special offers from more than 70 BID levy-paying shops and businesses in Durham City centre without the need to carry a range of different reward cards. By enabling cardholders to access local discounts, the scheme encourages staff to shop locally thereby supporting businesses in the city.

Keith Bartlett, Durham BID chairman, said: “Anyone joining the scheme will gain advantages from shopping locally, generating more custom for BID levy-paying businesses. All in all the scheme is a benefit for businesses and employees.”

Chris Hayes, the owner of Woven, one of the businesses taking part, said: “We’re delighted to take part in this innovative and positive new venture that will benefit both Durham City centre businesses and their staff.”

Participating businesses are displaying an InDurham Loyalty Card sticker in their windows and a full list of special offers and discounts is promoted on a dedicated webpage.
