We’re once again encouraging everyone to shop locally and support the wide range of independent businesses in the city as part of Independents InDurham!
The celebratory Independents InDurham week is taking place now, until 30 October. The week-long celebration of independent business aims to highlight Durham's unique mix of independent organisations alongside major high street stores.
With seven new independent businesses joining the already strong offer in Durham City Centre this year including - Akarsu Turkish Restaurant & Grill, Woven Casual, Morgan Douglas Student Lettings, Fat Hippo, Cafedral, Caffeine Brothers and Lounge, it’s a fantastic time to make the most of all the City has to offer.
With over 180 independent businesses in Durham City and a further 50 independent traders within Durham Indoor Market Hall, it’s a truly unique place to visit. The variety and combination of national brands alongside independent boutiques and businesses means we've got one of the most diverse, vibrant and fun city centres in the UK. This wonderful mix includes well-established independent brands and newer start-up businesses so there's really something for everyone in Durham City.
The independent businesses in Durham have so much to offer visitors like you; we continue to enjoy successful trading in Durham City Centre so we'd encourage people living locally to consider the great variety right on the door step.
We know that the North East public loves the engaging retail, leisure and commercial offering here. We work with hundreds of businesses and this wonderful eclectic mix is at the heart of the charm of Durham City – it sets us apart from other city centres up and down the country and makes us stand out.
So come visit us this half term week, and shop locally and shop InDurham!
